TOMMY RICKETTS

TOMMY RICKETTS

Community Project

Tommy Ricketts

Soldier, pharmacist, citizen: telling the full story.

Tommy Ricketts was NL’s war hero after returning home from World War One at the age of seventeen with a Victoria Cross. Now he’s hardly remembered. Why? And beyond a soldier, who was he? A successful pharmacist, beloved father, and name’s sake of roads, schools, and community buildings: there is more to his story.

We need your help to find out more! Oral histories, community collaboration, and archives work will be the key to telling this bayman, turned soldier, turned community pharmacist’s tale. And hopefully through him we can learn a little more about Newfoundland itself.
